2.0.9.0
minorVersion 2.0.9.0 fixes Deep Scan carrying a stale failure into the next email, a failed model load reported as available, and a slow domain-age lookup.
What changed
- Deep Scan no longer shows a leftover failure message after you open a different email
- A failed AI model load is now reported as failed instead of appearing available again
- The domain-age check's timeout now covers its full lookup, not just the final request
- Proton Mail's attachment-preview QR check now always matches the email open when it finishes
Deep Scan’s status could get out of sync with the email you were actually looking at. If a scan failed on one message and you then opened a different one, the panel could still show that earlier failure instead of the fresh, unscanned state the new email should start in - a stale result attached to the wrong message.
A related issue affected the model itself. Once the on-device model had been downloaded, its files stayed on disk even if a later load of it failed for some other reason - and the extension was checking “are the files there” before “did the last load actually work”. A model that had just failed could still be reported as ready, hiding the failure a click on Deep Scan would only repeat. The check now looks at the more specific signal first, so a real failure is reported as one.
The domain-age check that flags freshly registered domains asks a shared registry directory before it asks the registry itself, and that first step is shared by every lookup running at the same time. A slow shared request could eat into a single lookup’s own time budget before its real query even started, occasionally leaving a domain’s age unresolved for no reason related to that domain. The time budget now covers both steps, so one lookup’s deadline can no longer be consumed by a shared request meant for many.
Finally, Proton Mail’s reactive QR check - the one that scans an image attachment for a hidden link once you open its preview - could, in rare cases, attribute its result to whichever email happened to be open by the time the scan finished, rather than the one you previewed. It now re-confirms the email is still the one you have open before applying anything it found.
