major

The first public release: a phishing email checker for Gmail and Outlook. 28 heuristic checks on every email you open, with a colour-coded badge on each.

What changed

  • Heuristic scanning of every email you open in Gmail and Outlook
  • 28 independent checks for sender impersonation, deceptive links, urgency language and suspicious attachments
  • A colour-coded badge on each email: green for safe, yellow for suspicious, red for likely scam
  • A popover explaining every finding, with the exact text that triggered it
  • Mark a sender as safe, or report the email as a scam
  • Popup statistics showing how many emails have been scanned

Email Scam Checker starts from a simple promise: your email stays in your browser. In this first release every check runs locally, and no email content is ever sent to a server to be analysed.

The first release brings that promise to Gmail and Outlook. When you open an email, the extension reads the sender, subject, body, links and attachment names, then runs its checks and puts a coloured badge on the message. Clicking the badge opens a popover that lists what was found, why it matters, and the exact text that triggered it - a verdict never arrives without its reasoning.

You can mark a sender as safe so they are not flagged again, or report the email as a scam. The popup keeps a running count of what has been scanned.
