1.0.2.0
minorVersion 1.0.2.0 adds anti-phishing codes: record the secret phrase a service uses, and know instantly whether such an email is genuine or a spoofed email.
What changed
- Configure a personal anti-phishing code for each service you care about, such as a bank, an exchange or an email provider
- Detects the labels providers use, including "anti-phishing code", "security phrase" and "your personal code"
- A matching code shows a green confirmation and lowers the email's risk score
- A wrong or missing code on an email that claims to carry one is treated as a critical scam signal
Email spoofing is cheap: putting a bank’s name in the From field costs nothing, and a spoofed email can look exactly like the real thing. A security phrase is the one part of a genuine message a spoofer cannot guess.
Many providers, exchanges and financial platforms include such a phrase in every email they send you. If an email claims to be from one of them and the phrase is absent or wrong, it is almost certainly a phishing attempt.
This release lets you record those phrases in the extension, each with the name of the service it belongs to. When an email arrives carrying a code label, the extension compares what it finds against what you configured - and tells you plainly which of the two it is.
