2.0.7.0
minorVersion 2.0.7.0 lets you report phishing emails and have them count: reporting a sender now adds the message to your scam statistics.
What changed
- Reporting a sender as a scam now counts that email toward your scam statistics
- The reported email also appears in your recent-scams list
- Counted once per email, so reopening and re-reporting can't inflate your numbers
- Reporting still doesn't change how future emails from that sender are scored
Your own judgment is the most reliable signal there is. When you look at an email the extension rated merely suspicious and you can see it’s a scam, you already know more than the scan did.
Reporting a sender used to record that judgment and nothing else - the email stayed out of your statistics, so the numbers on the popup were all the scanner’s calls and none of yours. Now a report counts the email it’s about toward the scam totals and adds it to your recent-scams list, which is what makes those numbers a record of what you actually caught. Each email is counted once no matter how many times you open it, so reporting something you already reported changes nothing.
What a report still doesn’t do is teach the scanner. It isn’t remembered as a suspicious sender, so future mail from that address is scored exactly as it would have been. Reporting is you keeping the books straight - not a block list.
